Friends,
Not since the early days of the Internet -- with all the opportunities that the
the World-Wide Web ushered in to change the ways we learn, earn, communicate
and
more -- have I
been as
excited as I now am about renewable energy and biofuels.
As Sun Microsystems co-founder Vinod Khosla said of his big biofuels bet in the
October 2006
issue of "Wired" magazine:
This is where we'll find "the next Silicon Valley phenomenon, the Googles
and Yahoos of clean technology. These new energy companies will go on to create
jobs, wealth, and economic growth everywhere. And they will help change the planet’s
destiny."
Count me in!
Over the past few months, I have happily immersed myself in the arena -- meeting
key players, attending events,
reading everything
I can get my hands on, brewing my own biodiesel under the
tutelage
of Tom Herbert of Neely Green Solutions, and more.
I am overjoyed that much of what was formerly thought of as waste -- everything
from used kitchen grease to scrap paper and corn stovers -- can now be made into
the kind of fuel that reduces our reliance on Middle East oil, cuts down on greenhouse
gasses and is affordable!
Much more about these areas and how you can get involved will follow in the coming
weeks.
For now, I’m getting excited, getting involved, and hoping you’ll
join me.
Warmly and looking forward,
Wendy Dubit
